Steve & Sally dominate as the GP14 fleet battle behind.

Wednesday 2nd May

Another good turnout for Wednesday night racing, with some close racing throughout. We moved to two short races this evening and overall Steve Crook and Sally Townend sailed well to take the win in both but were pushed hard only winning the second race by a single second. The biggest fleet of the evening was the GP14s who had some great close racing with Adam and Ellie coming out on top and claiming second on the night with a 3rd and 2nd place overall, this was matched by the RS200 of Richard and Heather who got the same result but placed 3rd overall due to their worse position in the final race. Well sailed all!

Richard & Rhiann win a windy final Sunday of the Frostbite Series.

Sunday 29th April

On a blowy and challenging day the biggest fleet was once again the Toppers sailed by our growing number of junior sailors. Nick Brook sailing a Solo took the first race of the day but it was Richard Marsh and Rhiann in a RS200 who won the day counting two race wins followed by Les Bithell and Emma Turner in a Merlin Rocket with two 2nds. The final podium place and top junior went to Daisy Fisher in a Topper counting a 3rd and 5th place overall. Well sailed by all!

GP14s claim the top two spots as the sun arrives at Hollingworth Lake!

Wednesday 18th April

It was a GP14 top two on Wednesday night at what was our best turnout of the season so far with 18 boats out racing. After a chaotic start which saw Stuart Bates port tack the fleet in a Solo, it was Adam McGovern and Ellie Davies who held off the challenge from Andy Carter and Dave Fisher to take the win with Sunday’s winners Steve Crook and Sally Townend finishing third in the Merlin Rocket. We had close racing throughout the fleet and it was great to see a number of our newer members out racing.

Steve & Sally win the day but the battle continues between our juniors for the overall title!

Sunday 15th April

Sunday sailing was dominated by Steve Crook and Sally Townend who took two race wins and a 2nd in the day’s races. Chris Massey and Geoff Edwards finished as the days runners up counting two 2nds with commodore Andy Carter in third with a 1st and a 6th. Overall in the Frostbite series our juniors continue to rule, Jacob Din has increased his lead at the top of the table to 4 points over Jasper Bramwell who moves into second place both sailing a Topper 4.2.

The Marsh Family dominate on a day of light winds!

Sunday 8th April

Light winds greeted our biggest turnout of the series so far with 15 boats taking part in the days racing. The Marsh family of Richard and Lauren came out clear winners in their RS200 with 1st place in all three races, showing they really are the team to beat in light winds! It was great to see another RS200 join the fleet sailed this week by Even Parry and Rana Din who took a solid 4th place in race 2. The GP14 fleet claimed the remaining days podium positions with Martin Brennan and Steve Caladine in the runner up position counting two 2nds and Peter Bramwell and Kevin Parry with his new mast up and running counting a 3rd and 5th to claim 3rd place on the day. Top junior Helm went to Jasper Bramwell in his Topper 4.2 who finished the day in 7th place overall just 1 point clear of Jacob Din. Attention now turns to our Wednesday night series with a mass start at 7.15pm

The Topper fleet turn up in force, but the Marsh Family steal the show!

Sunday 25th March

The sun was shining and a nice moderate wind greated sailors as our Sunday frostbite series continued. The Topper fleet had the biggest  turnout with 6 boats taking part and it was great to see so many juniors out on the water again, however it was the Marsh family in their RS200 who stole the show with a 3rd and two 1sts to win the day. It was also great to see three Merlin rockets back out racing and last years club champions Steve and Sally had a solid start to their season coming in second with a race win and two 2nds. Bruce and Craig also in a Merlin completed the days podium. As the weather continues to improve we look forward to seeing more of our members getting out in the coming weeks!

Sunday Sailing – Frostbite Series goes ahead (4th March)
A big effort on Sunday morning by Chris Massey and Peter Bramwell resulted in the slipway being safe to launch from and to many peoples surprise club racing went ahead as planned.  The weather put off a number of boats from going out, however our new Sailing Secretary was the first to launch and 4 boats went out and enjoyed some great racing.  Provisional results show 3 different race winners with Tom Daniel not far behind in his Dad’s boat which was feeling the effects of the beast from the east.  A big thank-you must go out to Peter for not only clearing the slipway but providing safety cover all day so we could go racing!HLSC March Results
