Social Programme

In a sailing club, you race together and socialise together.  After Sunday and Wednesday sailing, most people relax in the bar and main room to discuss the day's sailing and anything else they fancy.

The main social programme starts in the autumn when the Wednesday sailing finishes.  On most Wednesday nights there is a function of some kind. These nights can be anything from a talk on sailing, a wine-tasting evening, keep-fit sessions, quiz night, local history talk etc. Of course, they are really just an excuse to meet friends.

Special functions include;

* excellent evening meals to celebrate the start and end of the social programme.  A special feature at the major evening functions is the appearance of guest draught beers for the CAMRA fans.

* The club always celebrates midsummer by having special races and a grand barbecue on a Saturday night.  This event is specially targeted at families.

* The middle of winter is often celebrated with a carol singing session on the Sunday before Christmas and a trip to the pantomime

*  The New Year sees a club walk, in the Hollingworth Lake Country Park area, to burn off some of some of those extra pounds

* an annual "posh" dinner and dance at a local hotel/restaurant
