Training Programme

At Hollingworth Lake, you have two opportunities to develop your skills in sailing. The club is very lucky in having close ties with the neighbouring Hollingworth Lake Water Activity Centre

At the centre, beginners can receive training, at all stages from novice to advanced levels, from Royal Yachting Association qualified instructors. They also offer training in windsurfing, canoeing and powerboat handling.

Developing racing skills

Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club is now an official RYA Approved Training Centre and is part of the Onboard training scheme which has been established to bring more young people in to the sport of sailing. The club offers some basic beginner training for its members in the summer. Our concentration is in developing peoples' sailing skills and introducing them to racing.

A number of club members hold Royal Yachting Association dinghy instructor and coaching qualifications.

This year, the aim is to hold a series of informal training sessions on the Saturday afternoons during the summer for Club members.  Hollingworth Lake will also be the venue for a number of area training meeting for a number of the classes sailed by the Club.  These courses will be run by area and national coaches.  Contact us for further details.

The Club owns a number of boats that are available for members to use during the various training sessions. They range from Optimists and Mirrors for the juniors, up to a GP14.
