Racing Programme
Seconds to go to the start of a special handicap race
Fleet Racing
The success of the club has been based on its staying with the simple format of running races on a fleet basis. If you think sailing a boat fast is exciting, then racing head to head against a large number of boats of the same class will really turn you on. It is this competitive challenge that has generated the current crop of top level sailors at the club.
The fun is not just at the front of the race. Throughout the fleets, the racing is still as challenging; after all, it may decide who buys the first drinks or snacks later.
Racing Calendar
The Club holds 3 races on Sunday afternoons from the beginning of March to the middle of December. From mid April to early September, a race is held on Wednesday evening. The mid-week race is a welcome break in the work-week and often has bigger fleets than those on Sunday.
The GP14s, Merlin Rockets and Mirrors have their own fleet starts, with the Solos and Lasers starting together.
To introduce a bit of variety, a number of special races of differing formats are run throughout the year. These events include pursuit and handicap races

The club holds annual open meetings for its major classes and is regularly called upon to hold national inland championships and area championships. The club has recently hosted a regatta for the Mersey Basin Campaign. |
