Thinking about joining HLSC?

Membership at the club varies widely in age, from very small children to members who started claiming their pensions a few years ago and they are still sailing 50 years on from joining the club!!

You don’t need to own a boat to be able to sail at the club; as many of the boats are sailed by two people.  Crewing for somebody else is the perfect and inexpensive way to introduce yourself to the sport.

Our annual subscription rates (for the year commencing 1st January 2017) are as follows:

Junior (up to 8): No cost

Junior (8 and over but under 12): £24 with discount £22

Junior & Youth (over 12 but under 18): £33 with discount £30

Student (full time): £57 with discount £51

Full member (age 18 to 23): £86 with discount £77.50

Full member: £172 with discount £155

Joint membership (two cohabiting adults): £229 with discount £206

Family membership (two adults plus children under 18): £262 with discount £236

Boat fee: £64 with discount £58

Boat fee (Youth / Junior): £26 with discount £23

The discount is available for the prompt payment of subscriptions.

The one off entrance fee (irrespective whether Full, Joint or Family) is £50.

We recognise that a new member joining from midway through the sailing season should not expect to pay the full annual rate.  We therefore have a sliding scale of membership fees with your first year’s subscription reducing in proportion to the number of months left in the year.

So, for example, applications for new membership received in June will only pay half annual subscription for that year and applications received in September will only pay 25% of annual subscription for that year.

Application received any time during % of full Annual Subscription paid
January to May 100%
June 50%
July 42%
August 33%
September 25%
October to December On election, you pay the following year’s Annual Subscription
